Operators, government agencies and security agencies need a more structured platform to share confidential information about security threats, according to the Federal Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS).Currently, threat information is shared in trusted information sharing networks.PJCIS recommends supporting the network in two ways: “a renewed focus on telecommunications security” and “advice from security agencies on ongoing and emerging threats”.Image from: itnewsPJCIS wants the government to establish a dedicated platform for sharing information on telecommunications security threats, allowing “the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) and the Australian Signals Bureau (ASD) to brief telecommunications stakeholders on ongoing and emerging threats at the highest possible level of secrecy”.Either way, the new working group will allow the industry to receive “appropriate classification and security briefings” from ASIO and ASD, perhaps through a “panel with appropriate authority”.(Compiled: MAO Yue)
